Chiu...

Chiu is autumn in Chinese, and this was the first jacket we cut for it. The name set the temper: mild, unhurried, the colour left close to where the wool began. Suit tailoring underneath, but lightly, without the armour. A mandarin collar stands where a lapel would be, with patch pockets and handwork at the edges. The frog closures that tradition would ask for have given way to buttons covered in the same flannel, so the fastening disappears into the cloth. The collar has never needed much help staying modern.
